Ready for a Western RPG?

promoteyourrp:

The Civil War has ended; Lincoln has been assassinated and President Johnson is in office. People are flocking to the west to start new lives for themselves and their families. What they didn’t account for was the physical and emotional hardships that they would face. Nor did they account for the prejudices still held onto from the war. In this indisputable tension, the age of outlaws has begun without remorse as the townsfolk let worry consume them and political upheaval distract them.

In an effort to bridge the newly-settling nation, the railroad has been started, forging a path quickly toward their frontier. But out west, this land and freedom has been bought with blood, tears, and lives. While many ache to get their hands on helping with this piece of history being made, most cannot fathom their new found happiness being stripped away by those flocking from the east.

Many have turned their sights instead on the Indians’ hindrance to the expansion of their towns and the railroad. Custer’s army has made it’s way westward and is enforcing the new declaration that Indians be relocated to reservations, though the numerous nations work hard to congregate their own forces and battle to keep their land and freedom from being squashed beneath white man’s government. Few can see both sides enough to gain ground without bloodshed, and too often, the outlying towns are caught up in their midst.

As the survivors of the North and South fight to forge the American West, can they give up old grudges to see the starting of a new era? Can they pull together as a community when their very rights, land, and freedom is jeopardized by the inevitable completion of the Transcontinental Railroad? Or will they allow the hatred and the past to divide them?

Only you can tell as you forge your own path here at Fractured.

There is a new lady in town! Click on the photo to read the whole story!

The moment was there, a new life started as the ship was docked in the harbor of the French colony Port-de-Paix. It took some months to reach the destination, but Katharina Schwarzenberger was happy the trip was finally over.
She never wanted this trip, it was a necessity. Life in Vienna wasn’t easy anymore, and now in Port-de-Paix, no one knew her past. There were new chances, tabula rasa, a blank canvas, ready to be painted on.

And that moment started when she walked of the boarding plank onto the stone docks. Her porcelain skin and golden hair was protected from the sun with a parasol, flanked by servant, Moritz, and her maid, Anna. The sailors were busy with loading the luggage of the ship, onto the carriage that stood ready for the Schwarzenberger party.

Katharina observed the colorful and lively environment, the swaying palm trees and all the people busy with working, doing errands, just living the colonist life. She took a deep breath and enjoyed the scenery to the fullest.
Still an aristocratic woman, she was always more close to the lower classes than others in her former social circles. Wealth and titles weren’t everything, she always found it somewhat superficial, though she was an adherent to the culture, or rather an outcast..

‘Moritz?’ she asked the blonde servant,

‘Yes Milady?’

‘You go with the carriage, Anna and I will walk. Anna, you know the direction right?’

‘Your wish is my desire. And if I may speak for Anna, she has the directions.’

She watched as the sailors loaded the trunks on the carriage. It surprised her how many fitted on one carriage. Though, the carriage had to return once the trunks were delivered at the townhouse, as there were more to follow.

‘Shall we go?’ she asked in a rethorical manner to Anna, not really waiting for an answer, as she started walking. Anna lead her indirectly to the market, from which the townhouse wasn’t close. Near the market were streetperformers, busy with beggin for money through their arts. It was a colorful group, some guys and a - ‘How fascinating! she thought - bellydancing girl. Katharina stood still to look at the performers and admire their dancing and music.

He repeated: “Long live the Republic!” crossed the room with a firm stride and placed himself in front of the guns beside Enjolras.
“Finish both of us at one blow,” said he.
And turning gently to Enjolras, he said to him:
“Do you permit it?”
Enjolras pressed his hand with a smile.

“It isn’t losing their money, my pet. I tell you it’s losing their world-the world they were raised in. They’re like fish out of water or cats with wings. They were raised to be certain persons, to do certain things, to occupy certain niches. And those persons and things and niches disappeared forever when General Lee arrived at Appomattox. Oh, Scarlett, don’t look so stupid! What is there for Ashley Wilkes to do, now that his home is gone and his plantation taken up for taxes and fine gentlemen are going twenty for a penny? Can he work with his head or his hands? I’ll bet you’ve lost money hand over fist since he took over that mill.”
